Next stop Barcelona: Asia Talent Team ready for Round 3

15 Jun 2017

The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya awaits as the FIM CEV Repsol fires up for the third round of the Championship

After the Moto3™ race in Le Mans alongside MotoGP™, the wait is soon over for the Asia Talent Team to get back on track in the FIM CEV Repsol Moto3™ Junior World Championship. The next stop on the calendar sees the paddock gear up for battle at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya – another track that features on the MotoGP™ calendar and a further chance for the riders to get to know the venues they aim to race at for years to come.

Last time out, Japanese rider Ai Ogura flew the flag for the Asia Talent Team with a top five finish, as compatriot Yuki Kunii and Thai rider Somkiat Chantra also put in impressive rides to finish in P7 and P8 respectively. They will be looking to keep the momentum going in Montmeló, as Japanese rider Kazuki Masaki aims to bounce back from a more difficult finish in France outside the points.

Back to join them in action will be Andi Farid, who has recovered from a hand injury that saw him sit out the race at Le Mans. He will be looking to score points in his sophomore year, having just missed out last year as he rode the track as a rookie.

Last season in Barcelona the Asia Talent Team had a podium in Race 1 with Ayumu Sasaki, and a good presence in the top ten in both races. This year, the goal will be the same or more – with Kazuki Masaki tipped to lead the charge, having taken a top five in Race 2 in 2016. Ogura, Chantra, Kunii and Farid will surely be pushing hard to replicate that success – or better it.

There are two Moto3™ races this weekend at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, with the competition on Sunday sure to provide another exciting showdown on the Road to MotoGP™.

As always all of the action can be followed LIVE on FIM CEV Repsol YouTube channel.
